Two Little Boys is a heartfelt autobiographical account of Frederick and Christopher, two friends, caught up in the turmoil of WW2. Five-year-old Christopher was evacuated from the Channel Islands, along with his mother and siblings, and through a fraught few days, was transported to Burnley, Lancashire, where he met a kindred spirit, four-year-old Frederick, the pair becoming fast friends almost instantly.
Interspersed with tense accounts of the invasion, and subsequent liberation of the Channel Islands, we have the innocent and mischievous antics of Frederick, Christopher, and their ‘Black Hand Gang’. Follow their antics as they develop various ill-considered, and sometimes illegal businesses, and the subsequent, sometimes humorously skewed results. Frederick W Holroyd writes innocently and with feeling, about his close friendship with Christopher, and his own family, during and after WW2. In Conclusions, he also tells us of his subsequent search for his friend in recent times, and most poignantly, he gives an account of his Father, who may or may not have survived his service in the RAF during the war.
A childhood Memoir of friends, family, and love during WW2.
