William Newby
William Newby was born at Kingsdale Head in the Yorkshire Dales and brought up by his grandparents at Yarlsber, Ingleton. He worked with his father on a fell farm at Higher Salter near Bentham, North Yorkshire and also for a year on a big sheep farm at Whitendale.
He owned two businesses before buying Edgebank Farm, above Kendal in Cumbria. William then moved south with his wife and family and bought Langworthy Burrough Farm in the South Hams, near Kingsbridge in Devon.
When William retired he moved back to Windermere, Cumbria where he and Edna live today.
