London born, bred and grammar school educated, Julie has been a Lake District devotee since she moved up to Cumbria more than thirty years ago. With daughter and grandchildren settled in the area, she treasures every day that she is able to enjoy the superb scenery and quality of life the region offers.
Creativity has been an integral part of her working life. Having gained an industry PR Diploma in London, she then spent most of her employment years in public relations, advertising and marketing, running her own freelance PR service for a long spell in South Lakeland before ending her business years by organising events.
A keen interest in the human condition led Julie to gain, in 1994, an Honours Degree from Lancaster University in Psychology and Behaviour in Organisations. Her interest in people behaviour still remains strong. Over the years she has dipped her toe into a myriad of pastimes including amateur dramatics, squash, horse-riding, golf, swimming and even gliding. And never one to shirk a challenge, she qualified as an aerobics instructor just before retiring in 2009!
Her enjoyment of writing fiction stems from school days, when she relished the task of composing essays, even the ones doled out to her as a punishment for bad behaviour! No longer badly behaved (she assures us!) Julie has rediscovered this pleasure with two novels in progress and her first publication, HotchPotch, a poetry book.
Julie is determined to finish her novels before the end of the year, between swimming sessions, walks and workouts, as she has a third novel in mind already.
