Dulcie Matthews is Fairynan to her seven great grandchildren. She lives in the Lake District with her husband, Annie the dog and eight Maine Coon cats. The woods and lakes in this beautiful place are a constant source of inspiration for her stories which
began their life as stories for her first great grandchild who lives too far away in Coventry. As we grow older it is too easy to lose our sense of wonder and surprise. These stories are for everyone who still believes that anything can be possible if you keep your heart open to miracles.

Paul Rose (Illustrator)
Paul always had a passion for drawing with a particular penchant for fantasy, horror and Tolkien style worlds with which to plunge himself into. He later studied technical and general illustration at Warwickshire college but decided the technical side was not the right path for him and the artistic side remained little more than a hobby from there on.
After many years in a regular job, and raising a young family, Paul was eventually challenged by one of his employees, a young writer by the name of Lance Manley to help him illustrate his self published book, a challenge that he eventually rose to. This book has now sold thousands of copies around the UK. Furthermore this rekindled the artistic spark in Paul, which had lay dormant for nearly 2 decades. A spark which is now seeing Paul pursue his original passion for fantasy art as an illustrator of children’s books whilst also harnessing his other passion as an accomplished caricature artist within the Midlands.
Dulcie and Paul met via a mutual friend and after an equal appreciation for each other’s work decided to collaborate on the Fairynan project, the result of which is now available for readers to hopefully enjoy for many years to come.
